Sports Direct CFO to follow former CEO out the door

London - Sports Direct Chief Financial Officer, Matt Pearson, is set to follow in the footsteps of the sportswear retailer former CEO, Dave Forsey, and exit the company.

Pearson is said to have resigned from his role at Sports Direct in order to “take up a role with a different employer.” His impending departure marks the second management change in less than four weeks, as the British sportswear retailer continues to struggling with a loss in sales and a damaged image. Pearson is set to remain in his role a CFO until the end of the year, December 31, 2016.

In order to ensure a smooth transition of his exit, Sports Direct has appointed Herbert Monteith, who has served a a member of the company’s finance team for many years, as Interim Head of Finance. In this role, Monteith will continue to work closely alongside of Karen Byers, Global Head of Operations and Sean Nevitt, Global Head of Commercial.

“Matt has been a valued member of the Sports Direct family for over nine years and he will be a loss to the Company,” said Mike Ashley, owner and CEO of Sports Direct. “I wish him all the best for the future and would like to thank him for his time at Sports Direct.”
