Aigner: German leather goods reloaded
loading...
As one of the major German fashion brands Aigner has made a name for itself with its top-quality leather goods – and with legendary horse-racing for which the jet set made the pilgrimage to Munich. This is a brand that combines skilled tradition with the modern.
The company’s founder, Etienne Aigner, was born in Hungary in 1904. In 1950 he presented his exclusive leather and travel accessories for the first time in New York, igniting instant demand for his brand’s designs. He ultimately created a firm base for his brand in Munich together with businessman Heiner H. Rankl. The horseshoe-shaped ‘A’ that still adorns the brand's logo today is the product of the glamorous 60s and 70s. Licences for watches, sunglasses and jewellery followed the classic bags; in the 90s the product range was extended to include ready-to-wear, which is still displayed in Milan today.
The leather collection for Fall/Winter 2017/18 has been created to reflect the motto ‘reset’. To do so, Creative Director Christian Alexander Beck reverted to the traditional elements of Aigner's DNA and used innovative techniques and production methods to bring them definitively into the here and now. In colour terms, natural hues like taupe dominate. Cashmere Beige, Alabaster Rose and Brick Red feature alongside shades such as Deep Blue, Concrete Grey, Grape Violet and, of course, Black. The designs from the F/W 2017/18 season, ‘Cybill’, ‘Tonda’, ‘Diadora’, ‘Lara’, ‘Lexi’, ‘Amalia’, ‘Lea’, ‘Vittoria’ and ‘Gemini’, exude darkness and intensity as well as stylish chic.
You can find Aigner at PREMIUM Berlin in Hall 5.
