Vegas-based tradeshow Magic recently has announced expansions. Aside from expanding to Japan this year, the show’s parent company UBM Advanstar is planning to expand its holdings by acquiring Business Journals Inc.

Business Journals Inc. currently produces shows such as Stitch, Fame, MRket, and more. UBM Advanstar will officially acquire the company, as reported by Apparel News, which will expand the total number of shows by both businesses. “Having [Business Journals Inc.]’s shows join Coterie, Magic, and Project within the same company provides the fashion industry with a comprehensive range of finely segmented shows to serve the needs of every fashion category,” Scott Schulman, chief executive officer of UBM Americas told Apparel News. Currently, UBM produces WWDMAGIC, FN Platform, Curve, and more. The acquisition will add more menswear, women’s apparel, and accessories show to UBM’s holdings.

Magic originated as a smaller show in California. UBM acquired the show in 2014 for 972 million dollars. In essence, bringing together UBM and Business Journals Inc. is a way to have the widest range for buyers. “Having the greatest possible selection of brands brought together in one place and merchandised in a compelling way makes every retailer’s life easier, and helps the wholesale buying process,” Chris Moulin, managing director of UBM Americas, told Apparel News.
