Tanya Taylor and Siki Im named winners of Woolmark Prize

The winners of the 2015/2016 International Woolmark Prize USA regional for women's wear and men's wear were Tanya Taylor and Siki Im. The winners, who were revealed last night at Milk Studios Penthouse, will receive a financial contribution of 37,000 dollars toward their next collection. They are also invited to compete in the international finals.

Tanya Taylor beat out Chris Gelinas, Kaelen, Nellie Partow, and Novis to claim the coveted women's wear prize, and Siki Im beat out Cadet, David Hart, Lucio Castro, and Thaddeus O’Neil for the men's wear prize. The winners were selected based on their designs for a six-piece merino wool capsule collection with one design actually being produced.

2015/2016 International Woolmark Prize USA regional winners announced

The elite members of the US judging panel were Ariel Foxman, Editor-in-Chief of InStyle magazine; Colleen Sherin, Vice President and Fashion Director of Saks Fifth Avenue; Eric Jennings, Vice President and Fashion Director of men’s Wear, home, gifts and beauty at Saks; Francisco Costa, Women’s Creative Director of Calvin Klein Collection; John Varvatos, Chairman of John Varvatos; Nick Sullivan, Fashion Director of Esquire; Malcolm Carfrae, Global Head of Communications, Public relations and Media at Ralph Lauren; Stefano Tonchi, Editor-in-Chief of W magazine, and Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. In addition to the USA regional prize awarded in New York, five other regional competitions will be held in Shanghai, London, Sydney, Dubai, and Antwerp.

The international men's wear final will be held at Pitti Uomo in Florence in January, and the six women's wear finalists will compete at New York in February. The two winners will receive 74,000 dollars each, and they will also have the opportunity to have their collection carried in London's Harvey Nichols department store, 10 Corso Como in Milan, Beijing and Shanghai, matchesfashion.com, mytheresa.com, Saks Fifth Avenue in the US, Joyce in China, Isetan Mitsukoshi in Japan, Boutique 1 in the United Arab Emirates, and David Jones in Australia.
